You deserve a tax ally.
She’s learned this not only in her career as an Enrolled Agent through the US Department of Treasury, but also from all the tax positions she’s held in her lifetime. First from her years as an award-winning math teacher in New York City, later from the decade spent in the violin studio she founded in Chicago where she served hundreds of families, and again from the time she dedicated as a stay-at-home mom when her family relocated to the Northwest. As a small business owner herself, Karen knows you have a story too, not just a tax situation.
Karen brings a teacher’s heart to her work with individuals and businesses, educating and empowering them to understand their tax position and to grow through strategic planning. She specializes in ‘special’ tax problems, ranging from small business to immigration status to family matters. After pursuing tax law and accounting in 2010, eventually earning her EA, she began her career in a big box firm and later spent formative years under a forensic accountant before starting STAC in 2015.
Today, Karen is married and the proud mother of two very bright young women. One who is serving in the US Navy and the other a college student “possibly protesting the United States government,” as Karen likes to say. Taxes, like life, require a sense of humor. Karen serves her clients in both Portland and Vancouver.
